Fisher + Baker

We’re excited to share a sampling of new work for Minneapolis-based Fisher + Baker. Scheduled to launch in Fall 2016, Fisher + Baker makes timeless, versatile, and highly-practical men’s apparel and outerwear. Over the last few months, we’ve worked closely with their founding team and a few insanely-talented partners to develop the visual identity, positioning, and strategy for the brand.

New Work: MerryStockings

With the holidays quickly approaching, we’re excited to share new work for MerryStockings, a family-owned manufacturer and retailer of holiday stockings, decorations, crafts, and gifts. The identity system we created for their brand was applied in a variety of ways and across a wide range of products and collateral. See the full case study here.

Rebranding for Mississippi Park Connection

We recently completed a rebranding for the St. Paul-based organization Mississippi Park Connection (MPC). MPC is the non-profit partner of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, a 54,000 acre national park stretching 72 miles along the Mississippi River in our home state of Minnesota.

The assignment covered a wide range of deliverables, from a new name and identity, to an assortment of brand application pieces including website (coming soon!), stationery, and promotional materials. You can find the full gallery of work here.

New Case Study Coming Soon!

Much of the last eighteen months at Studio MPLS have been spent working on a number of exciting packaging design and branding initiatives for a new client of ours. We’re absolutely thrilled to start sharing some of this work and are planning to release our first case study next week. Here’s a little sneak peek for now; stay tuned!

New Work: Crown Maple Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup

CMOur friends at Crown Maple recently released a limited-edition product combining two of the finer flavors imaginable: maple syrup and bourbon. Their bourbon barrel-aged syrup is made by aging premium organic maple syrup in bourbon barrels at their Madava Farms facility and then bottling the product in their state-of-the-art sugarhouse. The resulting flavor is perfectly balanced, described in the Wall Street Journal as “soul-stirring.”

We created a high-end label that aimed to match the supreme quality of this product through typographic restraint and distinctive printing techniques including a subtle embossing and gold foiling.

We’re thrilled with the response this product has garnered for our client, including recent press in the Wall Street Journal and Huffington Post

New Work: Basin Business Cards

We’re excited to share these new business cards we had the pleasure of designing for our longtime client Basin, a natural bath and beauty products company. These beauties are gold foil stamped on 110 lb Crane Lettra paper, making for an exquisite final product!

New Store, New State Park Poster

As we near the official start of the summer season, it is finally getting warm enough in Minnesota for many of us to venture out into the vast and diverse state park and recreation system. There are 67 parks spread across our home state in such a way that there is a state park within fifty miles of every Minnesotan! We designed a new print for our freshly-launched store that celebrates our parks through a gold foil typographic map featuring the name of every park and recreation area across the state.

The posters were foil stamped by our good friends and neighbors at McIntosh Embossing, Inc. who specialize in foil stamping, embossing, and die-cutting. Everything McIntosh creates is beautiful, including the foil stamping die that was created to produce our posters (unfortunately, this item is not for sale).

The posters are 11″ x 14″ and available on white, navy blue, or dark green paper. Visit our store to purchase yours today!

New Hire: Leslie Olson

We’re thrilled to introduce the world to our new design intern, Leslie Olson! Leslie comes to us from Concordia University, where she is weeks away from completing her post-baccalaureate program following a bachelor’s degree in journalism (why isn’t she writing this?) at the University of Minnesota.

Leslie is a lifelong illustrator with a passion for listening to and playing music, specializing in singing Bossa Nova classics and acoustic covers of Joni Mitchell’s greatest hits. Her gastronomic pursuits include perfecting homemade pizza, exploring MN’s expansive microbrewery scene, and tirelessly searching out the best scone + Americano combination from local coffee shops.

Last weekend, Leslie was one of seven scholarship winners at AIGA Minnesota’s “Portfolio 1-on-1” show! You can take a look at her impressive (and award-winning!) portfolio here:

Welcome, Leslie!

New Work: Faribault Woolen Mill

In 2013, we partnered with Faribault Woolen Mill Co. to create a line of jacquard blankets inspired by the wildlife of our region. Last winter we were commissioned to add two new designs to the line. The blankets have since sold out, but in true Studio MPLS form, we’re just now getting around to showcasing them. Our friend and photographer extraordinaire Paul Vincent spent a frigid afternoon on the frozen Lake Minnewashta shooting the blankets. With above-freezing temperatures right around the corner, we’re presenting this as our eulogy to winter.
